Latin is useful in some fields. Especially sciences. Everything is named in latin, and if you know the latin prefixes and such, you can figure out the basic symptoms of a disease just by knowing its name, or the basic characteristics of an organism based on its classification. not exactly necessary, but definitely useful.

even though latin is a dead language it is useful
latin is what most of the words, spanish and english, come from.... well the root of the word
