They're hardly literature at all. They call them graphic novels, because that's what they are. They depict a story with over-fluffed drawings and a minimal amount of words for the amount of pages.

As for my favorite books, I would list Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas (Hunter S. Thompson), Vector and Invasion (Robin Cook), The Andromeda Strain (Michael Crichton), the five books making up the Middle Earth world (J.R.R. Tolkien), any works by R.A. Salvatore and all books by Thomas Harris. A various few others, but nothing woth mustering.
