The time before the seeding of terrestrial life through space has been long since forgotten. One by one solar systems had been reached, colonized and settled. Stellar distance and travel times created barriers between settled star systems and their cultures grew apart in isolation. Differences caused friction and strife and conflict was sparked. Interstellar war raged even as unmanned terraformers slowly made new planets habitable and scouting crews discovered alien life, exotic matter and previously unimagined beauty and wonder. Their messages home went unheard.

Millennia of Earth time have passed with the greater human settlements rebuilding and rediscovering what was lost in the wars. Hypertunneling technology had shortened the effective gap between distant sectors and allowed a lukewarm coexistence to begin taking shape. Once more humanity sets its eyes on the horizon and wonders what lies beyond.

    Traits

Genetically Augmented: [Only taken during character creation] Your development was not entirely natural. Either through mutation, intentional genetic manipulation or illegal eugenics program you were born with significant physical advantages.
Zephyr: You are abnormally quick and agile. +2 Defend, +2 Move.

Sixth Sense: You have a strong sense of intuition and you have learned to trust it. The GM may make secret Spirit rolls when danger is near and give you hints - it's your choice whether to act on them.

Equipment & Inventory: (Thanks for the tip~)

EVE Shell: A sleek, high-tech hardsuit that can withstand extreme pressures, space radiation and reasonable levels of extreme temperatures. The helmet has a broad visor that leaves the face visible and can be retracted. Built into it are a flash light, communicator that links with external devices and the visor allows for VR projection. The helmet itself can fold away with a push of a button allowing the head to be exposed for comfort. Stats: [Armour, Wireless 0, Light 1, Atmos Resist 3, Radiation Resist 3, Oxygen Supply, Sealed, Hi-Tech]
-AUGMENTS: Exosuit Shell: Your EVE Shell is enhanced with a small artificial muscle system allowing it to enhance strength and motion. +2 to Vim rolls requiring strength or speed.

Bodysuit: A common replacement for clothing in the star frontiers , this skin-tight hyperweave bodyglove covers the neck and everything below. It regulates body temperature and keeps the skin clean of oils and dead cells to a limited extent. It has protective qualities but is very brittle as a form of armour, sacrificing its own integrity to protect the user in the event of extreme impending trauma. Stats: [Armour, Atmos Resist 0]
-AUGMENTS: Lined Suit: Your bodysuit possesses a protective lining and treatment to help mitigate potential harm from dangerous field work. Its inert outer dermis dampens harmful chemical reactions and its z-grade laminate polymer weave shields against ionizing radiation. Your bodysuit also comes with a compact retractable helmet but no air supply or true pressure resistance. [+Radiation Resist 1, Atmos Resist 2, Chem Resist 2, Sealed]

Shield Matrix: A device set into an EVE Suit or worn over clothing that produces a protective forcefield around the user that dampens hazardous radiation, energies and attacks. On its own it creates a bubble around the core body and head where the most vital organs are housed and shield nodes worn on the limbs extrude the barrier around the limbs outside of the bubble. [Armour, Energy Resist 3, Recharge, Powered, Hi-Tech]

Com: A heavy-duty portable computer and radio signaler and all-around electric multitool. [Wireless 1, Computer 1, Scan Radio 1, Scan Electronics 1, Hi-Tech]

Energy Gun: A small hand-held energy emitter that has two firing modes: Burn and Shock. Burn can be modulated to act as a fire starter, welder, cutter or weapon. Shock mode passes an electrical current along a line of ionized gas (so it requires atmosphere to function properly) allowing for non-lethal electrocution in self-defence or the powering of specially designed energy receivers. [Weapon 2 Burn/Shock, Short Range, Flame 0/Lightning 1, Powered]

Grapple: A forearm-mounted electromagnetic winch coupled with a magnetic impulse launcher allow this tool to fire a hook attached to a strong microcable for the purposes of rappelling, climbing, swinging and catching. Comes with a variety of adjustable hook tips: Piton, magnetic, claw, adhesive, ballast. [Weapon 1 Sharp/Impact, Short Range]

Scanner: A portable device that gathers information around the world. Scanners are specialized for specific purposes. Bioanalyzer (scans biological tissue composition and performs chemical analysis; useful for both xenobiology and medicine) [Wireless 0, Computer 0, Scan 2]

Stims: Cocktail of nutrients, electrolytes, vitamins and chemicals used to fight fatigue and pain available for easy portability and fast injection. Worn against the skin or used through ports in the EVE shell depending on injector type. Two charges can be carried on your person. When used the stim cocktail allows you to ignore 3 points of fatigue for a short time. The fatigue returns when the duration is up.

Hand MAG: A Mass Acceleration Gun designed after a trend of modified engineering tools for similar purposes was noticed among many marines. It uses a grav impulse to propel matter as its payload instead of cleaner, more efficient projectiles just like more archaic firearms. The advantage is in modular ammunition: It can take bullets, flechettes, less-lethal rubber slugs, electrojelly, adhesives and chem darts (chems not included). The bullet version looks like this: [Weapon 3 Ballistic, Short Range, Powered]

Melee Weapon: A step up from the knife. Your melee weapon begins with the following stats: [Weapon 2 Sharp, Short] And you can pick the following options: Impact [+1 Weapon Blunt] Vibro [+1 Weapon, Antiarmour 1, Powered]

Battle Scanner: A set of sensors set into your outfit designed to actively track motion and heat in your immediate vicinity and provide AR feedback through display visors or vision implants. Also comes in wrist display version if you don't wish to rely on a com. [Wireless 0, Scan Movement 1, Scan Thermal 1]

Multitool: A pocket-sized electronic device with a modular tip that allows the user to form it into a plethora of physical tools and digital interfaces allowing for hacking and electronics work. [Weapon 1 Sharp, Wireless 0, Computer 0, Hi-Tech]

Probe: This hand-held device extends a sinuous remote-controlled tentacle coupled with a camera and extending mechanical fingers allowing the user to see and manipulate objects from a short distance. It can fit through cracks and crevices. Another function of the tentacle is extending the emissions and reception of any Scanner it is paired with as if the scanner was present at the tentacle's tip. The tentacle doesn't move quickly and doesn't have much strength.

x2 Mechadendrite: A mechanical servo-arm is mounted on your shell. It comes in three varieties: A Manipulator arrangement which is tipped with an agile human hand, a Industrial variant which is a strong and rugged robotic claw meant for working with machinery and lifting heavy objects and a Tool array formed of tentacles tipped with various power tools. Whichever arrangement you choose the question of control should be addressed. The standard method is using your Com to guide the arm manually but this is slow and inelegant. A mechadendrite can be linked directly with a Brainwave Interface to allow for direct control which is far better but this works by redirecting neural impulses to a biological arm of your choice leaving it limp for the duration. Military grade mechadendrites and better control schemes are said to be available somewhere on the market. [Hi-Tech]

Brainwave Interface: This item commonly takes the form of a circlet or sensors built into jewelry but is sometimes concealed as tattoos around the head and neck. It picks up simple mental commands allowing to user to activate one item it is linked with, most often a com. [Hi-Tech, Wireless 0]

Medical Kit: A portable doctor's bag, the medical kit comes with state of the art surgical implements, medical material, drugs and decontaminants to prepare a patient for field treatment of any sort. It even comes with a microfabricator able to synthesize small doses of chemicals out of common elements.

Frontier Space lies far beyond the reach of wormholes created between warpgates maintained by the major factions ruling the home sector. Hyperdrives allowing a interstellar vessel to effectively travel at many times the speed of light turn the endless void of space into vast black ocean with every adjacent star taking months to reach. The problem of keeping a crew supplied with food and leisure for the duration of long journeys is solved with the implementation of cryosleep pods which put a traveler into cryostasis which drastically slows their metabolism and shields the more sensitive individuals from the poorly understood phenomenon of hyperspace psychosis. Distant stars become just a short nap away.

The Star Skimmer is a light vessel in the employ of Genysis Enterprise Interstellar, a megacorporation so massive it might as well be a nation. Its autopilot directed it on a course from a major colony station in the frontier shallows to an outpost on a distant planet, carrying Astin and other confidential cargo. Something began to pull the craft off course. The autopilot would reorient itself and perform periodic systems scans that would find no errors or damage. It wasn't until its hyperspace bubble collapsed and set it on a collission course with an uncharted planet that the systems began to send out an alert and dump the cryo pods. All of the records that indicated this system to be a Bermuda Triangle of space had been lost in the age of strife.

Astin returns to groggy consciousness to the sound of klaxons and flashing red lights, the voice of the ship's computer stating that it's about to enter the gravity well of a planet and text saying the same thing scrawling across the display glass of her pod. Emergency defrosting leaves her body weak and nearly paralyzed as vital fluids are dumped into her metabolism to cycle out the preservative drugs. As if normal thawing wasn't bad enough. There is little she can do in time to prevent Star Skimmer from hitting the atmosphere of a massive blue and green marble. Protective shields engage to diffuse atmospheric pressure and friction and hopefully slow the craft as reverse thrusters strain and burn out. The plummeting ship leaves a trail of black smoke and blue shimmers of ionized air as it tears through the cloud cover to find the vast blueness of an ocean. It lifts its nose to fly parallel to the ground, fortunate to be an airspace vehicle capable of safe reentry, and is slammed hard against the water's surface. The shield flares to absorb the impact and deflect the craft back upward as on comes rushing green and brown, the colours of a continent.

The shield flares again to prevent a mountain peak from taking off a wing and the bubble collapses leaving the vessel unprotected for the remainder of its uncontrolled landing. Astin's pod locks to brace her for impact. The other passenger's pod never unlocked. The Star Skimmer skips over a vast stretch of forest in just a second and rushes toward another mountain, hitting its surface at an oblique angle, grinding hard against the stone and following its curvature up and through an ice cap, ramping off into the air beyond and into the mountain's rain shadow. Its momentum mostly spend the vessel dives nose-first into the ground, a massive shock vibrating through its sturdy construction. It bounces and spins diagonally to hit again and finally grinds to a halt, smoking and trailing pieces. There is a moment of silence. A sudden shower of dense rain, the molten remnants of the ice cap destroyed falls upon the craft like applause at its impressive display of carnage. The droplets hiss to steam as they beat against the superheated hull.

Astin has some time to calm down until the automated systems allow her out of the pod. The ship is clearly running on auxiliary power and the autopilot is no longer active. She'll be useless for a while as she recovers from acute cryo sickness but she can walk and she can observe. What do you do?

Throughout the part of the crash landing that she was awake during, Astin remained in a state of confusion and panic. She could read the info on screen and hear all sorts of noises, but not do anything. Even as the ship glanced off of a mountain and hit the ground, both of which bounced her slightly in her cryopod, she was helpless. There was nothing she could do even as the silence settled in and she was forced to remain where she was. It wasn't until her release, giving her the ability to move around the ship, that she could finally do something, and not much beyond that.

Her first objective was to assess the damage. For that, all she needed to do was walk around the ship's interior, checking each room and control panel, careful not to use up power by diverting it unnecessarily. Then she attempted to exit the ship so she could see what the damage looked like from the outside.

Stacy didn't come to until after the crash landing, her cryo pod defrosting unnaturally without the ship's drive to at least give her emergency power. She finally came too in the darkness of the cargo bay, face still drenched with the slowly melting cryo-fluids. Her transport pod was still standing, though the rest of the room was pretty torn up, broken boxes and dented shipping containers strewn about. Her groggy mind did its best to piece together the situation, vaguely remembering being given a job as hired help for a security detail at a mining station. It seemed rote, routine, but of course it was turning out to be anything but.

She weakly hit the front of her still frosted window, hoping to attract some attention, not exactly sure if the pod she was in was circulating fresh air...

In her cursory assessment Astin discovers that the ship's core computer has received substantial damage and is unresponsive. Subsystems are still online, allowing for diagnostics, life support and power regulation. There are no breaches and most of the Crew Deck compartments are powered: Quarters, Medical (where the cryo pods and bunks are), Containment, Ready and Cockpit. Engineering seems stable with nothing on fire or leaking despite clear malfunctions. The power stores seem undamaged but inaccessible to diagnostics or grid and the reactor is definitely offline as is artificial gravity, not that that's a problem at the moment. The cargo deck with all of its equipment remains to be explored.
The ship's safety subsystems warn her against exiting unshielded (and undressed for that matter) due to the presence of microorganisms and other biomatter detected by atmospheric scanners but they won't prevent her from leaving if she really wants to. She can hear the thumping coming from inside of the other cryo pod.

Taking all of this information in stride, Astin is already headed to her Quarters to grab her gear before the other cryopod can grab her attention. She's no slouch for safety; you don't get into a position like hers by overlooking teensy weensy little details like that, even if they could be harmless. It isn't until she's mostly suited up and ready to go that she realizes that there's someone in the other cryopod, demanding to be let out.

Someone that she remembers having been designated as cargo... But the extra hands could be useful. So she begins the process of letting the other person out. Getting the ship fixed could be a problem all on her own, after all.

Stacy falls out of the cryo pod, crumpling to the ground in a coughing fit. The smell of chemical fluids melted without being drained wafts from the pod. For a minute, she just stays on the floor, silence broken up by the occasional hacking, liquid still lodged in her windpipe. But eventually she recovers, well enough to sit up against her archaic cryo pod and look at the woman who helped her out, suited up in an EVE shell and all. "Hah... Thank you..." she manages, just getting to the point where she can take deep breaths and start supplying her brain with oxygen again. "Was there... Some sort of... Accident?"

The pod opens without problem, allowing its nude occupant to spill out coated in viscous blue-green jelly. It smells almost like a citrus-based cocktail tastes, complete with the burning sensation.

Astin doesn't waste much time on the woman once she's out of the pod; she quickly retrieves some equipment for her, then points towards one of the unused crew quarters. "We crashed. I don't know why, I was in cryosleep when it happened. I have no clue who you are, but we're going to have to work together to fix the ship and figure out whats going on. Its potentially dangerous outside, so gear up with this suit and whatever else you can find in those quarters. Then meet me outside."

[Astin heads out of the ship to check its exterior, especially the hull.]

Still panting, she nods at the woman's curt orders as she walks out. The pilot of the cargo ship, perhaps? Regardless of who she was, she was right. Taking just a minute more to recover her wits, she quickly searches the cargo hold for the locked container holding her personal belongings and equipment. Assuring her things are all still intact, she goes off to the crew quarters to de-slime herself, giving herself a thorough rubdown that ruined several towels if the water wasn't running. Once she was clean, she went back out to the cargo hold, geared up in her personal equipment, and went out to join the pilot.

[Stacy washes off, equips herself, and leaves the ship to find Astin]

The girls would find their things intact. The shower works, blasting the slime off with high-pressure mist streams from multiple angles that quickly and effectively scrub down Stacy's body. The water doesn't drain well since the ship is on an incline and pools in a corner of the cubicle when it can't reach the drain.
Outside the damage is severe but not yet grim. The airlock opens to a drop of almost ten feet given the ship's current inclined position and the outside is thick with warm fog that keeps condensing on her visor. Astin takes a while to make her visual assessment. Armour is a necessity in space travel even for non-combat vessels and even in this age of energy shields, but the ship is missing quite a bit of its plating down to the insulation foam beneath which will maintain a vacuum but won't offer much protection from radiation or asteroids but replacing most of it won't be necessary for flight. That said the ship is missing its wings, stabilizers and maneuvering thrusters as well as heaps of other external equipment necessary for communication and measurement.
Stacy catches up with Astin once she's finishing her ablutions.

After taking the time to assess the damage... Astin's more than a little demoralized. This might not have been incredibly bleak, but they weren't going to be getting out of here any time soon. Which meant that the ship would eventually run out of power and be unable to sustain them. Which meant that it was time to find something to fuel the ship. "We need to find something we can use as energy for the ship or it won't support us for too long," she says when she notices Stacy coming out with her. "You're welcome to hunker down here if you want, considering you just woke up, but I could use the backup if you can handle it. No clue what this place is like." With that said, she pulls out her Geological Scanner.

[I'd like to use my scanner to look for deposits of minerals we could use to power the ship.]

Stacy stepped out to find the supposed pilot giving the rubble the once over. Judging by her body language, she was far more qualified to give an accurate report on the damage, so she waited for her to finish the survey, idly flicking on her battle scanners every few minutes to check for any movement in the surrounding area. "I'll help, I'm just as interested in keeping the lights on as you here. ...It's Stacy, by the way." She starts to search around, the industrial metal arms on the back of her suit unfurling naturally and lifting up heavy wreckage to check for any valuables that might be underneath.

[Stacy is using her robotics and super suit to search and look over any areas that Astin couldn't have accessed before, and is pinging the surrounding area for movement every few minutes.]

So if your total is 6, you roll 6d6 and find the highest number. If it's 6 and there are other 6es tell me how many.]
