You're not supposed to delete program files manually, or else it becomes impossible to easily uninstall programs' and remove their "presence" in your hard drive, which you're supposed to do from the "Uninstall/Change" program list you can quickly access by right clicking and attempting to delete most shortcuts on your desktop (At least for more recent iterations of Windows, that is)

Dunno a fix for it, but wait and see what more computer literate members have to say.

install avg again like i said. then use Revo Uninstaller and run and advanced scan to completely remove everything AVG including all registry entries etc.

    that should fix it

I think we already established that that solution would not work.

Burn your computer then throw it to your refrigerator. XD

If you're using windows OS, try this step:

    1. Press windows logo + r button or just go to the start menu then choose "Run..."
    2. Type regedit then press enter.
    3. In Registry Editor, choose "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" and "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
    4. Choose "Software"
    5. Find AVG 8 (or AVG FREE 8? I don't remember. :/) folder the right click that folder.
    6. Choose delete.
I think that will solve your problem. If you have more questions, PM me. ;)

PS: It's better you make a restore point first at "System Restore". This will prevent any unnecessary problems.

its very dangerous to edit your registry by hand

And very effective if you know what are you editing is. Also, if you are a professional one, you can also stop virus's attack just by deleting its registry.

Don't need to worry; these steps are already been tested by several person and I've never heard a serious problem about it. After all, only follow these steps if you don't have again the AVG FREE 8 installer.
