this ones a hard desicion... iron maiden, and mostly because they have inspired so many and have been playing for 20years, and also because metallica have gone a bit rubbish recently..

u! yea u! Metallica have been playing for 27 (yes folks you read right! 27 fantastic yearrs!) so thats what.... hmmmm....7 years longer than what you THINK they have been playing. But saying that Im not saying they have been playing for longer because Iron Maiden have been playing for 33 years. But Metallica are still the Gods of Metal and their aint nothing you can do about it!

Hmm... Its hard to say, you cannot compare these bands, each are as good as the other in their prime.
My vote would have to go for Metallica... I am an Iron Maiden fan, and know that they're an awesome band, but I've been listening to Metallica longer and have come to like them a bit more.
They're both pretty much even but my vote goes towards Metallica. I choose them due to the fact that they have been in the business longer and having more experience. I slightly like them more anyways. And just one question: Why isn't there a poll attached to this?
my favorite band I would say metallica because they scream more then Iron Madien. Im not saying Iron Maiden is bad though. hard pick=)
After much internal debate, I go with Metallica. Though I must say that Iron Maiden IS a great band, and both of them could accurately be called gods of metal.
