I read the DaVinci Code, too...I don`t think it`s a load of rubbish. At least not all of it. >>
As soon as I find the book, The Green Mile -written by Stephen King- is next!

"Running with Scissors" by Augusten Burroughs.
It's so bizarre and screwed up that I could hardly believe it's an actual memoir. The narrator's life is so chaotic that I felt as if I was going insane just from reading about it. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading about people with lives much crappier than their own.

Also, to anyone who has devoted their lives to Twilight:
I seriously recommend picking up a book with real literary substance and character development. Not trying to be mean, and gods know I don't want to be mauled to death by Edward fangirls, but really, Stephenie Meyer has no talent whatsoever. If you like vampires, I suggest Anne Rice's "Vittorio the Vampire", and if teen fantasy is what you're looking for, I suggest "Tithe" by Holly Black. But Twilight...no. Yes, I actually have read it, the whole series, but afterwards I felt as if my brain had been put through a blender. I've read fanfiction that's better written than those books, and that's saying something.

Personally, as far as a single book goes, The Redemption of Althalus, by David Eddings. I'm a fan of all his books, although not so much the last series he wrote, which I thought was a lot weaker, but RoA was an excellent read. If you;re into the kind of fantasy written by someone who made an early career studying and teaching medieval romance, at any rate.
